The mixed reality headset from HTC has been making headlines for a while. According to reports, the new headgear featuring support for both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) will make its premiere on January 5 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. An HTC executive teased the unveiling but offered few details. It is hinted that it will have front- and side-facing cameras and a goggle-like style. The next gadget will go up against Oculus Rift and Meta Quest versions.

According to Shen Ye, HTC’s global president of products, the company intends to introduce a new flagship all-in-one AR and VR headset on January 5 at CES, according to a story by The Verge. A fresh design will be used for the headset. The story quotes Ye as stating, “It’s about taking all of these advancements that we made in the design aspects, as well as the technical aspects, and putting it into something significant that’s compelling for people.”

The article also features a headgear image with a goggle-like style. It appears to contain side and front-facing cameras, enabling mixed reality. He claims that the headgear may be used for productivity and enterprise tools, as well as for gaming, entertainment, physical activity, and “even some of the more powerful use cases.” According to reports, it has a two-hour battery life and supports six-degrees-of-freedom controllers with hand tracking.

The new mixed reality device from HTC appears to have outward-facing cameras and a similar visual aesthetic to Meta’s Quest Pro. In October, the $1,500 Quest Pro virtual and mixed reality headset was released (roughly Rs. 1,23,400).

The HTC Vive Flow from last year is likely to be improved by HTC’s latest headgear. It was released in October and cost $499. (roughly Rs. 37,400). The foldable VR headgear has two cameras and is Vive app compatible. It has 64GB of internal memory and 4GB of RAM.
