Aston Martin has shown a V12 version of its Vantage sports vehicle with over 700 horsepower and a peak speed of 200 mph. The vehicle has a more aggressive posture with a body width and track increased by 40mm, a big rear wing, and extensive use of exposed carbon fiber on its front splitter, hood, and rear diffuser, and is limited to just 333 copies worldwide — with order books already full.

Aston believes this will be the final edition of the V12-powered Vantage, a model that has shown that there is demand for the company’s most powerful engine shoehorned into its smaller car since the idea appeared 15 years ago. The new, limited-run variant is the quickest and most powerful Vantage ever made, producing 690 horsepower at 6,500rpm and 555lb ft. of torque from 1,800 to 6,000rpm.

The peak speed is a supercar-like 200mph, and the sprint from 0-60mph takes 3.4 seconds. According to Aston Martin, the substantial use of lightweight materials provides the V12 Vantage a power-to-weight ratio of 385 horsepower per ton, an increase of more than 20% over the V8-engined Vantage.

Tobias Moers, CEO of Aston Martin, stated, “Every great sports vehicle manufacturer has a hero car.” In recent years, Aston Martin’s answer has been the V12 Vantage. “From the time the initial V12 Vantage RS Concept was revealed in 2007, our customers and admirers all around the globe fell in love with the notion of integrating our most powerful engine into our smallest and most sports car.” “It is now time to bring this lineage to an end, and what better way than with the most stunning example ever – the quickest, most powerful, and most dynamically capable V12 Vantage ever.”

Weight-saving features include carbon front fenders and side sills, a composite rear bumper and deck lid, a lightweight battery, and a unique, centrally-mounted, twin-exit exhaust. This component is comprised of 1mm stainless steel and saves about 16 pounds over the system used on the V8 Vantage. The V12 Vantage, according to Aston Martin, “has a voice to match its appearance and performance.”

A revised transmission calibration improves shift speeds, and the suspension has a new adaptive damping system with new anti-roll bars, bushes, spring and damper components. The suspension is stronger all over, but a supplementary tender spring has been added to the rear to improve driver comfort.

Body rigidity has also been enhanced, and stopping power has been increased by the inclusion of carbon ceramic brakes as standard equipment — a move that improves braking performance while reducing all-important unsprung mass by 50 pounds. The V12 Vantage now has an option of two new 21-inch alloy wheel styles, available in satin black or satin black diamond turned. There’s also an alternative lightweight wheel in matte black that saves another 18 pounds.

At the car’s peak speed of 200mph, the rear wing and carbon aero pack create about 250 pounds of downforce, making it something to witness via the driver’s eyes rather than the seat of their trousers. Inside, the V12 Vantage gets a redesigned carbon fiber seat with exposed fiber shell, as well as a seat with manual six-way adjustability. Aston Martin has not disclosed the price of the V12 Vantage, but with all 333 vehicles sold, there is perhaps no need to. Delivery of such vehicles is set to commence in the second quarter of 2022.
