The OnePlus Buds Z2 and the OnePlus 9RT were released in India in early January (the best smartphone under Rs 50,000, read the review here). It is an advance over the OnePlus Buds Z, and it has to be because it costs far more than many expected. Are you looking for a low-cost TWS (truly wireless stereo) earphone? The OnePlus Buds Z2 might be a nice option.
Design
Let’s begin with what you notice first: the charging case. The OnePlus Buds Z2 charging cover is long and oval in design, with OnePlus logo on top. It comes in two colors: black and white. I had the black colorway. It is a very simple charging case with a front LED indicator. There’s a USB Type-C charging connector on the rear, as well as a button for connecting new devices. The box’s lid may be opened with one hand without any difficulty. Naturally, there are two earphones within the casing, which have a very simple design. The earphones’ stem is extremely lengthy; yet, this is not a bad thing. The top of the earbud has a touch area that may be used to provide commands to the OnePlus Buds Z2.
The OnePlus Buds Z2 aren’t horrible in terms of design. They can appear absolutely natural and cool on practically anyone’s ears. They also fit well in my ear when I went for a run. I didn’t have to constantly adjusting them during my run to keep them from falling, which is a huge plus in my opinion.
Performance
It can become quite loud while still producing crystal clear sound. What I like best about these low-cost TWS earbuds is that they include noise cancelling. Users can choose between Transparency, Noise Cancellation, and Noise Cancellation mode. There’s also a ‘Normal’ setting. It has 11mm dynamic drivers and active noise cancellation (ANC) up to 40dB. Gaming was not a problem with these earphones. The latency provided by the OnePlus Buds Z2 is 93ms, which is quite acceptable. It also includes three built-in microphones for voice calling, which is a really pleasant experience.
Battery & Charging
The Buds Z2 can also charge quickly. If you have a OnePlus charging brick, just attach it to the USB Type-C socket at the back of the earbuds’ charging case for quick charging.
The OnePlus Buds Z2 charging case includes a 520mAh battery that the firm claims can provide 38 hours of playback time on a single charge. I didn’t check the hours, but I’m very confident it can last more than 30 hours with the charging case on a single charge.
Price
In India, the OnePlus Buds Z2 are priced at Rs 4,999. The month of March is coming to a conclusion, and if you’re searching for a TWS earphone that’s a good deal, you can’t go wrong with it. I couldn’t ask for more from OnePlus at this price.
Yes, there is competition in the Rs 5,000 price bracket, but the OnePlus Buds Z2 are in a class of their own. I would have like it if the charging cover was as small in breadth, length, and width as the OnePlus Buds Pro.
