The Delhi government is giving a Rs 5,500 discount to the city’s first 10,000 e-bike customers, according to Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot. He also stated that the first 1,000 e-bike purchasers will receive an extra Rs 2,000 incentive. This would entitle the city’s first 1,000 e-bike purchasers to a total subsidy of Rs 7,500. Furthermore, the Delhi government will grant a subsidy for the purchase of heavy load freight e-cycles and e-carts for commercial use. The first 5,000 customers would receive a Rs 15,000 incentive on freight e-bikes. Previously, this incentive was only available to individual e-cart purchasers. However, a corporation or corporate house that purchases these vehicles will now be entitled for a subsidy on the purchase of e-cycles. Gehlot proposed a Rs 30,000 stipend for them.

“Delhi becomes the first state to provide subsidies for e-bikes,” he added.

There is, however, a catch. According to the minister, only residents of Delhi would be eligible for a subsidy under this plan. Furthermore, the minister stated that the Delhi government has provided total subsidies totalling Rs 59.44 Core to encourage zero emission EVs from the policy’s implementation in August 2020. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, reacted to the news by thanking residents on their decision to use ebikes to reduce pollution in the city. “Congratulations, Delhi!” Today, we take another significant step forward in the fight against pollution… “Electrified bicycles will assist Delhi residents lessen their reliance on polluting autos,” he remarked in a tweet.
