For years, Gmail has been one of the most popular email programs, and it has been filled with countless features to make life simpler. However, these updates to the email service might be easily overlooked. Worry not, because today, we’ll look at seven super-useful Gmail features that you should absolutely be aware of, especially if you, like me, use the service on a regular basis.

Gmail Trick:  Advanced Search

The advanced search features in Gmail are comparable to those available on Google. They assist you in narrowing your search and, as a consequence, getting to your findings faster.

To use them, simply search for the term you’re looking for and then click the filters button to access advanced choices. You can pick certain email IDs from which you wish to get results.

Similarly, you may look for emails sent to a certain ID or those with a specific subject. Other search parameters you may use include ‘words included,’ ‘words not included,’ size, date, and whether you want to see emails with or without attachments

Gmail Trick:  Undo Send

Gmail allows you to instantly retrieve a message that you sent incompletely, with an error, or with the incorrect attachment. There is no difficult procedure here. When you click the ‘Send’ button on an email, the ‘Undo’ button appears at the bottom of the screen.

Please keep in mind that this Undo option will only exist for a limited period before disappearing (The time limit can be changed in Gmail settings).

Also, if you send a message and need to undo it, make sure you click directly on the Undo button, since clicking anywhere else will override the Undo button’s time restriction and cause it to disappear.

Gmail Trick:  Confidential Mode

Gmail’s confidential mode allows you to create an email that will be automatically erased later, similar to WhatsApp’s vanishing messages.

When your email is complete, search for the lock and clock buttons in the same bar as the Send button. This option allows you to choose an expiry date for the email, after which the receiver will be unable to see or save its contents.

Gmail Trick:  Color Coded Stars

Many individuals use Gmail’s stars to mark significant messages so that they may be discovered easily later. However, did you know that you may utilize numerous color-coded stars in Gmail? You may then choose a different color for workplace emails, personal emails, essential subscription updates, and so on.

To enable various colored stars, go to Gmail Settings/Stars and drag the desired colored stars from the ‘Not in use’ area to the ‘In use’ section.

Gmail Trick:  Change Tab Layout

Gmail’s default layout displays all of your mail in a tabbed format, with social and promotional messages showing in distinct areas to avoid mixing with personal and workplace communications.

However, if you want to eliminate some of these tabs, go to Gmail Settings/ Inbox/ Categories.  Check the tabs you want to see and uncheck the ones you don’t, and you’re done.

Gmail Trick:  Mute Conversation

You can mute an email thread if it receives too many emails that aren’t truly relevant to you.

Select any email and then click the three dot menu at the top of the inbox bar to locate the ‘Mute’ button under alternatives like ‘Mark as read’ and ‘Mark as important.’ When you click on it, the discussion will be silenced.

Gmail Trick:  Writing Suggestions

Gmail users may also utilize Smart Compose or Writing Suggestions to write out frequent words and email phrases faster. This option’s settings may be found in Gmail Settings/Smart Compose. When you enable it, it will provide ideas when you type popular sentences.
